Reopening Procedures - June 2020

We are EXTREMELY EXCITED to get you all back in the gym! We have definitely missed seeing all of you and attacking workouts together. We know this time has been challenging for many of you. We want to first take the time to say THANK YOU to each of you for your support over the last several weeks. We have never felt so much love and encouragement and we hope you all know how much we appreciate it. With your support not only are we able to reopen our doors, but we have been able to continue to pay your coaches. So thank you!

We began with a soft opening on Friday June 19th, operating outdoors based on Halton Public Health guidelines. To make sure things run smoothly we have put some guidelines in place. Here is a list of things you can expect at FirePower upon your return.

Deep Cleaning

During our closure we have spent extra time on the gym to ensure it is in tip top shape. The whole gym has been deep cleaned, decluttered, walls have been painted, and mats pulled up and cleaned, change rooms scrubbed, and reorganized. There are multiple hand sanitizer stations throughout the facility, bathrooms are equipped with UV Disinfectant Lights used daily, a cell phone UV disinfectant case, and stocked with a variety of disinfectant products & tools. We are committed to health & safety of our members and also our staff who will be in high contact with these products. All staff are trained extensively and our Health & Safety protocols are enforced & up to date.

Our entire FirePower facility is "FRESH START CERTIFIED"   This is extremely important. Details can be found here: https://freshstart.pro/sample-page-2/freshstart-certified/

Physical Distancing Stations

Due to our vast outdoor training space on site at the FirePower Campus, we have set up TWO safe and physically distant Outdoor Workout Stations on the front lawn and also on the blacktop. In addition, all inside gyms have spaces marked for physical space when we are allowed back in during Phase 3 Reopening.

·      Indoor stations have an 8×15 ft spot with access to the rig and pull up bar.

·      Outdoor stations are much larger.  No access to any outdoor rigs.

·      Stations will be set up with all the equipment you will need for the daily workout to ensure proper distancing and cleanliness of equipment.

·      Stations will also be stocked with personal sanitizing spray and cloth.

It will be the athletes’ responsibility to clean and disinfect all the equipment used that session and in their station at the end of their training session.  Coaches and staff will be on hand to assist as needed.  A full detail of our products used is included in the FirePower COVID Reopening Action Plan document.

Pre-registation Required for Group Classes

Class size are limited to 9 athletes to ensure proper distancing.   Pre-registration for class is REQUIRED to attend. Reserve a spot in your preferred class time through the Pike13 app up to 48 hours before class.  You can also access our FirePower Pike 13 from the firepower.pike13.com web site.  If you need help, please ask a staff member.

*****NOTE****  we have slight membership adjustment due to COVID.  You will need to ensure your membership is revised accordingly. Please connect with renee@teamfirepower.com.  A member of our team will also be calling every current member to discuss options that suit your training needs and comfort levels at this time.

Each class will have a wait list as well. All athletes that are registered for a class MUST attend that class or remove their name from the registration within 4 hours of class start time to allow the next person on the waitlist to attend. If you are on the waitlist and a spot becomes available, you will receive an email or text notification that you are in!  Should this time not work for you, please have the courtesy to remove your name asap through the app or webpage.

If your schedule is flexible, please consider scheduling a less popular class time to allow those who may have a tighter schedule to get their workouts in.

Minimal Touch Check in & Workout Scoring

Currently we will not have members check in to class using the iPad Mini’s at the gym upon arrival as was done previously. Coaches will confirm your arrival after you have pre-reserved your session.   All athletes can use the SugarWod app to score their workout.

No Child Access

Unfortunately there cannot be kids brought with parents during this time. Typically, the ‘penalty’ box is available for kids to wait while parents’ workout, however due to COVID, this area is off limits.  In addition, there is no safe space for children to hang out during outdoor workouts as well, so please make alternate arrangements for your childcare needs at this time.  We have many teenagers in our community willing to assist with babysitting if mutually-agreed upon. Ask us for details. Please note this is not offered through FirePower.

We apologize and as things settle, we will absolutely revisit this.

Washroom Access

There will be no access to changerooms / showers during this time.  The 2 front powder rooms will be available if needed.    Each of these rooms will be sanitized at regular intervals. Please arrive at the gym in your workout clothes as much as possible.

Gym Sanitation

All gym surfaces will be sanitized daily.   Athletes will have access to hand sanitizer to use as they enter the gym.  We encourage you to wash your hands when you enter the gym and when you finish your workout. Gym floor will continue to be cleaned daily as well as spot mopped in between classes once indoor classes are allowed. Staff/Coaches will clean the bathroom, spot mop and wipe commonly touched surfaces at a minimum of 11am, 4pm and 8:30pm.

Outdoor classes will be 15minutes apart to allow for proper cleaning of surfaces.  Indoor classes (when approved) will be 15-30 minutes apart to allow for minimal traffic.

Workout Programming

We realize many of you haven’t touched a barbell or weights in almost 2 to 3 months. We know you’re all dying to come in and crush the weights, however it’s important that we take a slow approach to this. Our number one priority is to help you ease back into fitness in a safe way to keep you all injury free. And we have a plan to help you do this.

·      Encourage you all to keep intensity moderate.

·      Lower RX weights to adjust accordingly for the first few weeks

·      High focus on stimulus of the workout over RX’ing a workout.

Remember it’s more about reconnecting with each other and making progress with your fitness.

We support you in your personal choice during this difficult time if you choose to continue the stay at home protocol. We plan to continue all online remote training and private accommodations for those in this situation. Please contact Renee for more information.

Thank you for being patient as we navigate these changes together. We will be learning and changing things as the weeks go by to better accommodate each of you. We are doing everything in our power to ensure you stay healthy and active during this time while keeping you all in the gym.

Can’t wait to see you all!!
